What is Somatic Breathwork?

Somatic breathwork is a science-based approach rooted in therapeutic research that harnesses the profound connection between our breath, body, mind, and nervous system. By consciously engaging with specific breathing techniques, it offers a pathway to release accumulated stress, unprocessed emotions, and physical tension stored within the body. Somatic breathwork recognizes that the state of our nervous system fundamentally influences our mental and emotional well-being, facilitating a deeper sense of self-awareness and regulation.
The Soma+IQ™ methodology provides a structured yet adaptable framework, drawing from established principles of nervous system regulation and trauma-informed care. It empowers individuals to gently explore their inner landscape, fostering greater emotional resilience, mental clarity, and a profound sense of inner peace. This practice is widely accessible and cultivates an expanded capacity for living with authentic presence and ease, ultimately leading to a more vibrant and fulfilling experience of life.
Who am I?
My background as a trained actor, dancer, yogi, and clown have each in their own ways lead me here, to passionately and wholeheartedly guide and hold space for others through the process of breathwork. While the modalities in which I have trained appear varied, I have always viewed each pursuit in support of the others. It is through this holistic lens that I understand the experience of being alive, and with which I approach each breathwork session. To me, breathwork is both beautifully simple and profound. All we need is what we've always had--our breath. When we bring awareness to our breath through practice we draw on the innate wisdom of our own aliveness, embracing all its expressions, to bring us greater ease, deeper connection, and the opportunity for genuine freedom and joy.
When self-connection and acceptance nurture authentic interconnectedness, a sense of unity and oneness emerges from and between us that supports the whole. I am certain that our individual well-being is deeply intertwined with the collective. My wish for the collective is continuously greater balance, peace, harmony, love (and all the other nouns that mean more pleasure and less suffering), so I believe we may as well begin with ourselves. May the care you show yourself radiate and be revolutionary. It is my honor to support you in this endeavor.
